NLCC HAWKINS

Have Fun. Learn New Skills. Make Lifetime Friends.

Navy League Cadets is a program for youth 9-12. Boating, sports and music are just some of the fun activities Cadets can enjoy in an environment that emphasizes citizenship, teamwork and friendships.

The Navy League of Canada was established in 1895 to promote an interest in Maritime Affairs generally throughout Canada.

Today, the Navy League of Canada has a presence in over 260 Canadian communities. Our youth programs benefit 12,000 young Canadians every year, and we continue to grow.

ACTIVITIES

Making Young Leaders

The Navy League of Canada is a civilian organization and it is not run by the Military. Our cadets are trained using a naval theme as a guide so that they can develop good citizenship, leadership, a sense of duty, self-discipline, teamwork, healthy living and respect for others.

TRAINING & TEAMS

Band, Drill team, First Aid, Semaphore

At NLCC HAWKINS, in addition to our regular training nights, Cadets are encouraged to be a part of one of our Teams.

Our Band has instruments that they can learn to play.  They will be able to show their skills in competition and parades throughout the year.

We also have a Drill Team where cadets learn to work together on mastering a routine for competition.

Our First Aid and Semaphore Teams also get important training during the year with an opportunity to go to competition as well!

COMMUNITY

In the Public Eye

Our Cadets are very involved in activities throughout the year.  We are very proud to be a part of the Poppy Campaign each year to help support the Veterans of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The Cadets also rely on fundraising for the Corps as well.  There are various fundraising activities throughout the year that help to cover some or all of the cost of training exercises for the Cadets.

ACTIVITIES

Fun, Fun, Fun!

During the year we often have the opportunity for some extra curricular training activities.  These can include camping weekends locally or even across the US Border to train with our US Neighbours.  The opportunities give the cadets a chance to use their leadership skills and to work as a team.
